I love her. I could just eat her up she is so incredibly sweet. I met Scarlett when she was 13 days old. She came into my studio, decided she didn’t feel like being photographed and left as quickly as she came in. I’ve never had that happen before, I thought all babies loved being photographed, no?
What I forgot was that Scarlett was running the show. Something I would have to remember for when she came back only three days later. 16 day old Scarlett decided that she wanted to be awake. Wide wide awake and wanted to be as much a part of this session as my camera was.
As a photographer, you wish, hope and even say a prayer to God before a newborn comes into your studio, that whatever baby being photographed, will be blessed by the sleep Gods. Sleep baby Sleeeeeeep. Sure, I have tricks I use. I use them at every session. I’ve never met a baby that didn’t buy into my tricks at least for a few minutes. That is until I met Scarlett.
It was an awesome session and I’m so happy to have gotten some wide awake shots. She really was going to have it no other way.
….and there is usually something specific I remember fondly of each baby I meet. Scarletts trademark was her signature yawn. I’ve never seen a bigger more serious yawn in my life. SO happy to have gotten it in photographs.
World, meet Scarlett . . .
