About MDWRIGGS Photography

So many people ask me what the heck is an MDWRIGGS. So, I will give you a small breakdown so you can see how it came to be. Not that it matters, not that you are asking but I need SOMETHING to write in this section and so this is it. M is for Michelle :) Simple enough right? D is for my maiden name *unimportant really* WRIGGS is just a short nickname from my married last name. Those who know me will appreciate the shortened version because its a fun tricky last name to say and spell :) Thats it, there you have it.

A sweet little girl | Ottawa Valley Photographer

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

I’m so behind on blogging, lol.  As you can probably tell by past posts, I go at it for a few posts in a row, then I get tied up and forget and then WHAMMO! I post a whole bunch :)

Its been a busy start to 2012 and I’m anxious to get shooting outside!!!!!!

I met Carly when she was an itty bitty bundle of newborn cuteness!  And I had the pleasure to have Carly in my studio again a few days ago!

She was apprehensive at first but quickly loosened up :)

Still cute as ever :)

A perfect Start to 2012 | Ottawa Valley Portrait Photographer

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

I have to admit, when I wrapped up 2011 I was a little burnt out.  Not because of photography but moreso because of photography plus family commitments with my kids and sports.  I had planned to take a little bit of time off from photography to allow me to focus all of myself on my wonderful family and friends.  I was able to enjoy Christmas and the holidays 100% and like every year, by the end of January I am raring to go and 100% ready to jump back into the work I love to do.

One of the best parts of being a photographer is watching babies grow into toddlers, toddlers into big boys and girls and so forth.  I have been blessed to be a part of this journey with THE one and only Scarlett.  You may remember Scarlett and Krista from this picture:

I know it was one of my favorites.  I did a session of Scarlett when she was about 6 months old as well ….. Here is one from that session.  I LOVED her outfit.  (I think I’ve always loved her outfit.  lol

Fast forward to last week ….. Here is how she has grown, she is SUCH a big girl and SOOOO happy to get her picture taken :)

This picture makes me laugh because Krista seemed to think that Scarlett wouldn’t want anything to do with the cupcake.  That girl knew exactly what to do and no problems showing us.  She was stinkin’ cute.
We did have to peel the wrapper and candle from her little chocolatey hands :)

So there you have it …. newborn baby to one year old!  Let the fun begin :)

I am telling you, I love her eyes.  Not only is she sweet and smiley (even if she did resist a bit), she is ADORABLE with the biggest roundest eyes.  She was one session that I smiled while editing from start to finish because her eyes were SO big and so full of happiness and curiosity.

And sometimes a little contempt for the hair bow.  Just sayin’.

Happy First Birthday Molly :)

Owen Turns Two | Ottawa Valley Childrens Photographer

Monday, July 25th, 2011

Owen is another sweet little boy I met when he was only 9 months old.  His mom has become a dear friend of mine because she shares the same neurotic passion for photographing her child as I do my very own.  LOVE her to pieces.

If she ever moves out of Ontario, I am going to have to follow her just so I can continue to take photos of Owen.  Even though mom does a pretty darn good job herself.

I’ve had the opportunity to meet owen when he was 9 months old, 12 months old and 2 years old.  Each time has been my pleasure.

I can be crazy Aunt Michelle :)

Sweet Elizabeth has turned ONE | Ottawa Valley Childrens Photographer

Monday, July 25th, 2011

I LOVE when I get to take pictures of a baby growing up.  I met Nicole and Steve when they were expecting Elizabeth and we did a maternity session as well as a newborn session.  So this is my third time working with their family and I loved them this time as much as I did last time :)
Elizabeth is beautiful and her mom chose JUST the right outfit if I do say so myself :)

Happy First Birthday Elizabeth!

Ottawa Valley Photographer DROPS THE BOMB on blogging :)

Monday, July 25th, 2011

Oh boy.  I’ve been horrible!

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing families and children this summer and I have yet to blog very many.  I’m so sorry!  So here is my attempt of blogging them all into one :)

First lets begin with Caleb since he was the last little smiling eyes I looked into while editing.  Full of smiles and curiosity.  He is such a sweet little boy. I will do separate blog posts for each session since they are all uniquely adorable :)

Miss Kate | to my rescue again

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

The other day I needed to try a few things out.  1) Some of my new equipment that I haven’t had the chance to use yet and 2) my location had to be checked as well to see if it was too damp.  See if the bugs were bad, how tall the grass was, that sort of thing.  ANDDD 3) some more new stuff I’ve collected over the winter.  Who better than a cute blond haired, blue eyed little girl who’s mother claims she can be a bugger at times but I just don’t see it.

Thanks Kate!

Until we meet again | Bestest Friends Chloe and Emily

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Want to hear a tear jerker?  These two ~ sweet, adorable and INCREDIBLY talented ~ should be on Canada’s Next Top Model ~ girls are best friends.  I mean bestest friends in the whole world, complete BFF’s through and through.  They are the kind of Best Friends I imagine Missy and I would have been IF we had known eachother as ten year olds.  Except I’m quite a bit older than Missy and that would just be weird when you are young.  Then I would be like, 10 and she would be only about 4.  Anyways, their days as Petawawa BFF’s are about to come to a halt.

Miss Emily is moving out of province and Chloe will be staying put here in Petawawa.  I did hear a few rumblings during our session that there is a bedroom open for Emily if she would like to stay though.  And if she doesn’t stay, I’m SURE these girls will remain close no matter what. I say that because MY Very best friend lives about 8 hours from here and although I think we’ve only seen each other twice in the past couple of years, I can assure you we speak on the telephone and text each other multiple … and I really do mean multiple times each day.

Though the miles are between Missy and I, we really do consult each other for just about everything.   And honestly, just yesterday she texted me pictures of the couches she was looking at buying and asked for my input.  But with the delay I was late in responding.  Which meant she got the one I didn’t pick and this morning promptly went back to the store to see if she could change her mind.  That is just what best friends do.  You adjust to the distance and when it hurts and you miss each other like crazy, you pick up the phone, send an email or write on a facebook wall, lol.

And honestly, hands down the best medicine for missing your best friend is to lay in bed with a big bowl of ice cream, a fully charged telephone to your ear and gab until your heart is content.  That is what we do.  And when I look back over the years and that we’ve only seen each other twice in the past few, I don’t feel like I haven’t seen her.  I feel like I see her every day.  Because we really are still a part of each others daily lives.  That will never change.

So Emily and Chloe, here you are …

Hope you had as much fun as I did :)

KINLEY | sweet expressive Kinley

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

You know I  would probably say that MOST of my sessions consist of newborns and families.  Its not often I have a request to photograph a 6 month old.  I would LOVE to change that!  How FUN are they!  They’re so sweet and fun and expressive and for the most part can sit up and give the cutest funny faces!  Not quite old enough to run from me and my camera which makes it a lot easier for me :)

Met a sweet little girl with big blueberry eyes.  Her name was Kinley.  Kinley did such a good job and stayed pretty patient with all the flashing lights :)

Here is the beautiful little girl they call Kinley (and I love her name)

This girl knew exactly how to accessorize.  From head to toe, Kinley was all decked out.  Bracelets, headbands, hair clips ….. pure perfection!
